This original 12-by-12-inch coastal acrylic painting pairs the relaxed form of a rocking chair with blooming Phalaenopsis orchids in a colorful, intimate garden setting. The combination of florals, greenery, and a familiar place to sit gives the piece an inviting, collected feel. Its small square format makes it especially versatile for a gallery wall, bookshelf display, small accent wall, or as a finishing piece in a bedroom, sunroom, or relaxed coastal interior.

Part of my Out My Back Door series, this scene comes from one of my favorite places at home. The rocking chair beside the orchids is a quiet retreat where I can read, reflect, or simply enjoy what is happening in the landscape around me. I wanted to capture that feeling of slowing down and appreciating the simple pleasures found just outside the back door.
