Acrylic on Canvas

Standing quietly above the maritime forest, the Fernandina Beach Lighthouse has guided mariners into the St. Marys Entrance Channel since 1839. In this interpretation, the lighthouse rises from a lush canopy of palmettos, live oaks, and native coastal vegetation, appearing almost hidden among the natural beauty of Amelia Island.

The soft sky and distant seabirds evoke the peaceful rhythm of the Florida coast, while the sturdy white tower stands as a symbol of safety, endurance, and the island's rich seafaring heritage. This painting celebrates the unique relationship between Amelia Island's wild landscape and one of Florida's oldest surviving lighthouses—a treasured landmark that continues to watch over the coast more than 180 years after it was first illuminated.
